Our physical intervention skills have been developed to maximise safety, dignity and social validity. The RRN Training Standards are now the key nationally recognised standards for physical interventions training and are a requirement for services overseen by CQC, NHS England and a number of other statutory bodies.

Sherwood Training are a specialist training provider with a focus on RRN Approved, BILD-ACT/UKAS certified training in Positive Behaviour Support and Physical Interventions. In addition to direct delivery, we operate under the RRN Affiliate Scheme which enables us to develop in-house trainers (known as Associate Trainers under the scheme) to deliver our training within their employing organisation

What type of training courses does Sherwood Training offer?

Sherwood Training specialise in delivering understanding behaviour and physical intervention Bild-ACT certified training that is compliant with the RRN (Restraint Reduction Network) Training Standards. We also offer alternative courses for sectors that do not require certified training. In addition, we offer a range of courses required in the health, social care and education sectors such as First Aid, ligature release, manual handling and dementia awareness. Are your physical intervention courses certified by Bild-ACT against the RRN Training Standards?

Yes. We were one of the first organisations to gain Bild-ACT certification and were part of the CQC advisory group for the ‘Out of Sight Who Cares? Review of Restraint, Seclusion and Segregation.’ We were the first commercial training provider to have an Affiliate Organisation (Train the Trainer) model approved. Even before certification became mandatory we were voluntarily accredited under the Bild PITAS scheme and code of practice for teaching physical interventions

Do you offer open courses for individuals to attend?

Yes. To support smaller organisations and agency workers, we run open courses that anyone can attend. This includes first aid, manual handling and our physical interventions courses which are Bild-ACT certified as compliant with the RRN Training Standards. Our team of highly experienced and competent trainers include registered nurses, registered managers, PBS practitioners and senior support workers. They have significant experience in many settings and will use this experience to tailor any course to your individual needs.

Yes. We pride ourselves in designing bespoke training packages to meet the individual needs of your organisation. Whether this be two half-day courses delivered in one day, or a full induction programme, we strive to ensure your team receive the training they need to be successful in their roles.
